Who am I?

With a creative passion rooted in my high school years, I pursued an education in arts and humanities, focusing on drawing, painting, 2D and 3D design, photography and color theory. I also took courses in interior design principles and materials and selection which deepened my understanding not only of aesthetics, but also of the importance of selecting materials based on function and the customized needs of each client.

After college, I joined the U.S. Air Force, where I served in law enforcement and security, and earned my BA in Criminal Justice. Post-military, I transitioned into real estate full-time. It was during this time that Carissa’s Redesign was born, sparked by my experience as a first-time homeowner. My passion for styling and decorating grew as I flipped furniture, embraced carpentry, and transformed residential spaces through accent walls and creative redesigns.

My design approach combines artistic vision with practical, beautiful transformations, focusing on maximizing the existing footprints of homes and solving functionality challenges. I'm excited to share my love for design with clients, helping them create spaces that are as functional as they are inspiring.

My Design Style

My design style is a blend of craftsman, modern, and rustic elements, all with a minimalist approach to ensure the space feels uncluttered and open, especially in smaller areas.

I prioritize depth and texture by mixing rich, deep colors with light, bright neutrals for contrast. Built-ins and detailed trim work add a level of interest and can be great for storage and space saving.

Rustic characteristics like wood tones and mixed metals provide a natural, inviting feel. I tend to lean toward earthy tones for spaces like offices and bedrooms, creating a warm, grounded atmosphere. In main living areas and bathrooms, I prefer cooler color palettes for a fresh, calming effect, while accessorizing with warmer tones and textures to add coziness and make the space more inviting.
